 |
| اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ {١} |
1. (Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). |
| خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ {٢} |
2. He created man from a clot of blood. |
| اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ {٣} |
3. Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, |
| الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ {٤} |
4. who, by the pen, taught the human being: |
| عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ {٥} |
5. He taught the human being what he did not know. |
| كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ {٦} |
6. Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel |
| أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ {٧} |
7. because he thinks that he is independent. |
| إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ {٨} |
8. However, (all things) will return to your Lord. |
| أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ {٩} |
9. Have you seen the one who prohibits |
| عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ {١٠} |
10. a servant of Ours from prayer? |
| أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ {١١} |
11. What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided |
| أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ {١٢} |
12. or if he commands others to maintain piety!? |
| أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١٣} |
13. What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? |
| أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ {١٤} |
14. Does he not realize that God sees him? |
| كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ {١٥} |
15. Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, |
| نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ {١٦} |
16. his lying sinful forelock. |
| فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ {١٧} |
17. Let him call on his associates for help |
| سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ {١٨} |
18. and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. |
| كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۩ {١٩} |
19. (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. |
