 |
| اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ {١} |
1. Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created - |
| خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ {٢} |
2. Hath created man from a clot! |
| اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ {٣} |
3. Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, |
| الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ {٤} |
4. Who hath taught mankind by the pen - |
| عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ {٥} |
5. Hath taught man that which he knew not. |
| كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ {٦} |
6. By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. |
| أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ {٧} |
7. As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. |
| إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ {٨} |
8. Verily Unto thy Lord is the return. |
| أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ {٩} |
9. Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, |
| عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ {١٠} |
10. A bondman of Ours when he prayeth * |
| أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ {١١} |
11. Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, |
| أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ {١٢} |
12. Or he commandeth piety? |
| أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١٣} |
13. Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? |
| أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ {١٤} |
14. Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? |
| كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ {١٥} |
15. By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock - |
| نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ {١٦} |
16. A forelock, lying, sinning. |
| فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ {١٧} |
17. Then, let him call his assembly, |
| سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ {١٨} |
18. We also shall call the infernal guards. |
| كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۩ {١٩} |
19. By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. |
