 |
| وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ {١} |
1. By the night enshrouding |
| وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ {٢} |
2. And the day resplendent |
| وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ {٣} |
3. And Him Who hath created male and female, |
| إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ {٤} |
4. Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). |
| فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ {٥} |
5. As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) |
| وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ {٦} |
6. And believeth in goodness; |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ {٧} |
7. Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. |
| وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ {٨} |
8. But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, |
| وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ {٩} |
9. And disbelieveth in goodness; |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ {١٠} |
10. Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. |
| وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ {١١} |
11. His riches will not save him when he perisheth. |
| إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ {١٢} |
12. Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance |
| وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ {١٣} |
13. And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. |
| فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ {١٤} |
14. Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire |
| لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى {١٥} |
15. Which only the most wretched must endure, |
| الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١٦} |
16. He who denieth and turneth away. |
| وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى {١٧} |
17. Far removed from it will be the righteous |
| الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ {١٨} |
18. Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). |
| وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ {١٩} |
19. And none hath with him any favour for reward, |
| إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ {٢٠} |
20. Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. |
| وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ {٢١} |
21. He verily will be content. |
